On the occasion of Eastertide, I felt compelled to draw together the story of the famous Armenian painter Arshile Gorky and the Christian principle of Resurrection. Every April 24th, Armenians remember the Armenian Genocide of 1915. The resurrection of the Armenian people, with Gorky's The Artist and His Mother as a focal point, is the subject of this essay, published in Dappled Things. The piece was re-edited on the occasion of its second publication in Radix Magazine.
